Graduate iPad Release and Reset Instructions

Graduate iPad Release and Reset Instructions

Information for eligible graduates preparing to remove university management and reset their AMP-UP iPad for personal use.

Graduate Release Timeline

Graduate iPads are not released immediately after graduation.

The release process may take approximately one to two months while the Office of the Registrar, University Student Success Office, Client Technology Services, and Enterprise Endpoint Management confirm eligible graduates and remove devices from university management.

Overview

The University Student Success Office (USSO) distributed iPads to select students through the AMP-UP Initiative, also known as the Aggie Mobile Program—Unlimited Possibilities.

The Enterprise Endpoint Management (EEM) Department within Information Technology Services configured these devices with a university management profile that includes endpoint security, monitoring, and device management software.

After an eligible student graduates, the university must verify graduation and remove the iPad from university management before the device can be reset and used as a personal iPad.

How the Graduate Release Process Works

  1. The Office of the Registrar confirms students who have officially graduated.
  2. The confirmed graduate information is coordinated with the University Student Success Office, Client Technology Services, and Enterprise Endpoint Management.
  3. EEM receives the final list of eligible graduates and begins removing the associated iPads from university management.
  4. After all eligible devices have been removed, EEM sends an email notification to each graduate's North Carolina A&T university email account.
  5. After receiving the release notification, the graduate may erase and reset the iPad using the instructions in this article.
University Email Access

Graduates may continue to access their North Carolina A&T university email account for up to one year after graduation. Monitor your university email for the official release notification from EEM.

Graduates from Previous Semesters

If you graduated before the current Fall or Spring semester, your iPad should already have been released from university management.

Before submitting an iPad Services ticket, attempt the erase and reset instructions in this article. In many cases, no additional action from ITS is required.

If the university management profile returns during setup or you are unable to complete the reset, submit an iPad Services – Graduate iPad Release request for assistance.

Before You Begin

Important Data and Password Notice

  • Resetting the iPad will erase all content, applications, files, photos, notes, and settings stored locally on the device.
  • ITS does not back up user data and cannot restore information after the iPad has been erased.
  • You are responsible for backing up important files and information before beginning the reset.
  • Make sure you know your Apple ID and password before resetting the device.
  • You may need your Apple ID and password to complete setup and regain access to applications, purchases, and cloud-stored information.
Current-Semester Graduates

Do not erase the iPad until EEM has notified you that the device has been released from university management. If the device is erased too early, the university management profile may return during setup.
