When signing in to Microsoft 365 applications on a desktop computer, laptop, phone, or tablet, students should enter:

OneID@ncat.edu

Both OneID@ncat.edu and OneID@aggies.ncat.edu represent the same username and use the same password. Students can use either to access Microsoft 365 email and productivity software.

Overview

North Carolina A&T State University provides eligible students, faculty, and staff with access to Microsoft 365. Microsoft 365 includes University email, Microsoft Office applications, OneDrive cloud storage, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and other productivity tools that support teaching, learning, research, communication, and University operations.

Microsoft 365 can be accessed through a supported web browser, desktop applications, and mobile applications. Available applications and features are based on your University account, role, and assigned Microsoft A5 license.

Who Can Use Microsoft 365?

Microsoft 365 is available to eligible:

  • Students
  • Faculty
  • Staff

Access is connected to your active NC&T account and assigned Microsoft license.

Know Your Email Address and Sign-In Username

Your University email address and your Microsoft 365 sign-in username may be different. This is especially important for students.

Students

Your official NC&T student email address uses the following format:

OneID@aggies.ncat.edu

Use your @aggies.ncat.edu address when providing your email address to instructors, classmates, University offices, employers, and other contacts.

Signing in to Microsoft desktop and mobile applications

When signing in to a Microsoft 365 application on a desktop computer, laptop, phone, or tablet, enter:

OneID@ncat.edu

This applies to applications such as:

  • Microsoft Outlook
  • Microsoft Teams
  • Microsoft OneDrive
  • Microsoft SharePoint
  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Microsoft OneNote
  • Other Microsoft 365 desktop and mobile applications

After entering OneID@ncat.edu, use your current NC&T OneID password and complete multifactor authentication when prompted.

Remember: Signing in with OneID@ncat.edu does not change your student email address. Your student mailbox remains OneID@aggies.ncat.edu.

Faculty and Staff

Faculty and staff email addresses use the following format:

OneID@ncat.edu

Faculty and staff should use OneID@ncat.edu when signing in to Outlook, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Microsoft 365, and other Microsoft desktop and mobile applications.

Access Microsoft 365 Online

Microsoft 365 can be accessed through a supported web browser without installing software.

  1. Select the appropriate access button below.
  2. Students should enter OneID@ncat.edu when prompted to sign in.
  3. Faculty and staff should enter OneID@ncat.edu.
  4. Enter your current NC&T OneID password.
  5. Complete multifactor authentication when prompted.

Outlook Email and Calendar

Microsoft Outlook provides access to University email and calendar services. Outlook can be accessed through a web browser, desktop application, or mobile app.

Outlook features include:

  • Sending and receiving University email
  • Managing your calendar
  • Scheduling meetings
  • Creating automatic replies
  • Organizing messages into folders
  • Searching for messages
  • Managing contacts

Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is the University's Microsoft collaboration and communication platform. Teams supports virtual meetings, chat, file sharing, screen sharing, class collaboration, departmental communication, and project-based work.

Microsoft Teams can be used for:

  • Online meetings
  • Class and group collaboration
  • Chat and University-related communication
  • File sharing
  • Screen sharing
  • Virtual office hours
  • Department and project collaboration

Now Available: Microsoft Teams Access for Students

Students now have access to Microsoft Teams and can participate in collaboration activities including chats, meetings, Teams channels, Microsoft 365 Groups, and SharePoint sites to which they have been granted access.

Please note that while students have access to Teams, Microsoft 365 Groups, and SharePoint, they do not have permission to independently create Microsoft Teams Sites, Microsoft 365 Groups, or SharePoint sites.

Requests for Groups or SharePoint resources that support approved academic, research, or University business needs may be reviewed through the appropriate University process and considered on a case-by-case basis.

OneDrive and SharePoint

OneDrive and SharePoint provide cloud-based file storage, sharing, and collaboration through Microsoft 365.

OneDrive

OneDrive provides each eligible user with 1 TB of cloud storage. It is designed primarily for storing and managing files associated with your individual University Microsoft account.

OneDrive features include:

  • 1 TB of cloud storage
  • Access to files from supported devices
  • File and folder sharing
  • Document collaboration
  • File version history
  • Synchronization with supported computers and mobile devices

SharePoint

SharePoint supports shared storage, document management, team collaboration, and information sharing for authorized University departments, groups, and projects.

SharePoint features may include:

  • Department and team sites
  • Shared document libraries
  • Controlled file access and permissions
  • Document collaboration
  • Version history
  • Integration with Microsoft Teams and other Microsoft 365 tools

Store University information only in locations approved for the type of information being handled. Do not share confidential or restricted information unless you are authorized to do so.

Install Microsoft 365 Applications

Eligible users may be able to install Microsoft 365 applications on supported personal or University-managed devices. Installation options depend on your assigned license and device type.

  1. Visit the Microsoft 365 portal using the button below.
  2. Students should sign in using OneID@ncat.edu.
  3. Faculty and staff should sign in using OneID@ncat.edu.
  4. Select the option to install Microsoft 365 applications, if available.
  5. Download the installer for your supported device.
  6. Open the downloaded installation file and follow the instructions.
  7. Sign in using your University Microsoft 365 username when prompted to activate the applications.

University-owned computers may use a managed software installation process. Available applications and installation methods may differ from those used on personal devices.

Access Outlook on a Mobile Device

The Microsoft Outlook mobile application is available for supported Apple and Android phones and tablets.

Student mobile sign-in reminder:

Students must enter OneID@ncat.edu when signing in to the Outlook mobile app. Your official student email address will remain OneID@aggies.ncat.edu.

Set Up Outlook on Your Mobile Device

  1. Download Microsoft Outlook from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  2. Confirm that the application is published by Microsoft Corporation.
  3. Open Microsoft Outlook.
  4. Select Add Account or Sign In.
  5. Students should enter OneID@ncat.edu.
  6. Faculty and staff should enter OneID@ncat.edu.
  7. Enter your current OneID password.
  8. Complete multifactor authentication when prompted.
  9. Follow any additional on-screen instructions to complete setup.

Protect Your University Account

  • Never share your OneID password.
  • Never approve an unexpected multifactor authentication request.
  • Use only official Microsoft applications and websites.
  • Be cautious of unexpected links and attachments.
  • Sign out when using a shared or public computer.
  • Keep your computer and mobile devices updated.
  • Report suspected phishing messages or unusual account activity to informit@ncat.edu .

What is my NC&T student email address?

Your official student email address is OneID@aggies.ncat.edu.

What Is OneID?

OneID is your North Carolina A&T username and digital identity used to access University technology resources. Your OneID is the part of your University email address before the @ symbol and is used with your OneID password to sign in to supported systems and services.

Can I log into Office 365 email and productivity software with both my OneID@ncat.edu and OneID@aggies.ncat.edu?

Yes. Both usernames represent the same Microsoft 365 account and use the same password. Students can sign in using either OneID@ncat.edu or OneID@aggies.ncat.edu. Your official NC A&T student email address ends @aggies.ncat.edu where you will send and receive email. ​​​

Is my email address @ncat.edu?

No. Your official NC&T student email address ends in @aggies.ncat.edu where you will send and receive email. Although students can sign in to Microsoft 365 using either OneID@ncat.edu or OneID@aggies.ncat.edu, their official University email address does not change.

Will signing in with @ncat.edu change my student email address?

No. Using OneID@ncat.edu as your Microsoft 365 sign-in username does not change your student email address. Students will continue to send and receive email using OneID@aggies.ncat.edu.

How much OneDrive storage do I receive?

Eligible NC&T students, faculty, and staff receive 1 TB of OneDrive cloud storage through their University Microsoft 365 account.

Can I access Microsoft 365 when I am off campus?

Yes. Microsoft 365 can be accessed from supported devices with an internet connection. You may be required to complete multifactor authentication.

Do I have to install Microsoft Office?

No. Many Microsoft 365 applications can be used directly from a supported web browser. Desktop and mobile applications may provide additional features.

Can students create their own Microsoft Teams Site?

No. While students have access to create and participate in Microsoft Teams chats, they do not have permission to create Microsoft Teams sites (teams/workspaces).

If a Microsoft Teams site is needed for an academic or university-related purpose, a request should be submitted through our ticketing system. Requests must be submitted by a university official (such as a faculty or staff member) on behalf of the student or group.

Can students create their own Microsoft 365 Groups?

No. While students have access to use Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365 Groups, and SharePoint when those resources have been shared with them, they do not have permission to independently create Microsoft 365 Groups or SharePoint sites. If a student needs a Microsoft 365 Group or SharePoint site created for an academic or university-related purpose, they should work with their instructor, department, or the appropriate university office to request one.

To request a Microsoft 365 group submit a request through our ticketing system. Requests should be submitted by a university official (such as a faculty or staff member) on behalf of the student group.

What is the difference between OneDrive and SharePoint?

OneDrive is primarily intended for files connected to your individual University Microsoft account. SharePoint is commonly used for shared department, team, and project files where multiple authorized users need access.

What happens to my Microsoft 365 access when I leave the University?

Microsoft 365 access is based on your University affiliation, account status, licensing, and applicable University policies. Before your access changes, move any permitted personal files you need to retain to an appropriate personal storage location.

Troubleshooting Sign-In Problems

If you cannot sign in:

  1. Confirm that you entered your OneID correctly.
  2. Students should enter OneID@ncat.edu when signing in to Microsoft desktop and mobile applications.
  3. Faculty and staff should enter OneID@ncat.edu.
  4. Confirm that you are using your current OneID password.
  5. Complete multifactor authentication when prompted.
  6. Confirm that your device has a working internet connection.
  7. Close and reopen the application or web browser.
  8. Update the Microsoft application through your device's official app store.
  9. If you have forgotten your password, visit forgotoneid.ncat.edu .
  10. If you need to update your security information or MFA methods, visit registeroneid.ncat.edu .
  11. Submit a Microsoft 365 or Email Services request if the problem continues.
