2. Phone Number (Text Message or Voice Call)
Overview
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your NC A&T account. In addition to your password, MFA requires a second verification method when signing in.
NC A&T strongly recommends Microsoft Authenticator as your primary authentication method.
Set Up MFA
Who should use this section?
Users setting up MFA for the first time.
- Visit registeroneid.ncat.edu.
- Sign in using your OneID credentials.
- Select Add sign-in method.
- Choose Microsoft Authenticator.
- Follow the prompts to complete setup.
- Add a second authentication method.
Review MFA Methods
Who should use this section?
Users who want to verify or update their authentication methods.
- Visit registeroneid.ncat.edu.
- Sign in using your OneID credentials.
- Review the methods listed on the Security Info page.
- Confirm at least two methods are registered.
- Verify your phone number and devices are current
- Verify the Microsoft Authenticator app is set as your default MFA method. Click on Change above the + Add sign-in method button.

7. From the change default method menu, select App based authentication-notification and select Confirm to set the Microsoft Authenticator as your default MFA method.

Remove or Replace MFA Methods
Important: Add your new authentication method before removing your last working method.
- Sign in at registeroneid.ncat.edu.
- Locate the method you want to remove.
- Select Delete or Remove.
- Add and verify your replacement method.
