OneID: How to Sign In to University Systems and Student Services
Learn which OneID format to use for university computers, Wi-Fi, email, academic systems, Housing, Student Health, payments, scholarships, library resources, parking, and other services.
What Is OneID?
OneID is your North Carolina A&T username and digital identity. Your OneID is used with your OneID password to access many university computers, networks, systems, applications, and student services.
Your OneID is the portion before @aggies.ncat.edu in your university email address.
Example OneID username: jdoe123
University system sign-in: jdoe123@ncat.edu
Official student email address: jdoe123@aggies.ncat.edu
Students May Use Three Different Formats
University System Sign-In
OneID@ncat.edu
Used for Microsoft 365, Canvas, Single Sign-On (SSO) applications, and other systems that redirect you to the North Carolina A&T university sign-in page or request a complete university sign-in username.
|
OneID Username Only
OneID
Used when a service asks for a OneID username, network username, or the portion before @aggies.ncat.edu.
|
Official Student Email
OneID@aggies.ncat.edu
Used when providing your official student email address to instructors, university offices, employers, and other contacts.
|
Important: Your Sign-In Username and Student Email Address Are Different
Use OneID@ncat.edu for university Single Sign-On (SSO) and Microsoft 365 sign-in unless a service specifically tells you to use a different format.
Using OneID@ncat.edu to sign in does not change your student email address. Your official student email address remains OneID@aggies.ncat.edu.

Signing In to University Computers
University Windows Computers
When signing in to a university Windows computer, including applicable computers in academic labs, service locations, and university work areas, enter:
Use your current OneID password.
University-Managed Mac Computers
A university-managed Mac may have a local computer account and password assigned during setup. The local Mac password may be different from the user’s OneID password.
Even when the Mac has a separate local password, students must use their OneID credentials for:
- Campus Wi-Fi
- University email
- Microsoft 365
- Canvas
- Aggie Access
- Other university systems and services
Connecting to Campus Wi-Fi
Students use their OneID username and current OneID password to connect to the university wireless network.
Username: OneID username before @
Example: jdoe123
Password: Current OneID password
Do not use your complete @aggies.ncat.edu student email address unless the wireless setup instructions specifically request a complete username.
Personally owned televisions, gaming systems, streaming devices, and other devices that cannot use the standard university Wi-Fi sign-in may require separate student-device registration.
University Single Sign-On (SSO) Applications
What Does Single Sign-On (SSO) Mean?
Single Sign-On (SSO) is the university sign-in page used by many North Carolina A&T applications. If an application redirects you to the university sign-in page, start with OneID@ncat.edu.
You may see the same university sign-in screen when opening different systems. This does not mean every system uses the same permissions or that your @ncat.edu sign-in is your student email address.
For university Single Sign-On applications, students should begin with:
This includes applications such as:
- Canvas
- Microsoft Outlook
- Microsoft 365
- Microsoft OneDrive
- Microsoft SharePoint
- Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote
- LinkedIn Learning
- NCATConnect
- Zoom Single Sign-On, when available
- Other applications that redirect to the university sign-in page
After entering OneID@ncat.edu, enter your current OneID password and complete multifactor authentication when prompted.
Important: Use the Recommended SSO Format
Some Single Sign-On applications may accept both OneID@ncat.edu and OneID@aggies.ncat.edu. For consistent university sign-in instructions, students should use OneID@ncat.edu for SSO unless the application specifically instructs them to use a different format.
Student Email and Microsoft Outlook
A student’s official North Carolina A&T email address is:
Students should provide their @aggies.ncat.edu address to instructors, classmates, university offices, employers, scholarship organizations, and other contacts.

- Outlook sign-in: OneID@ncat.edu
- Official student email address: OneID@aggies.ncat.edu
Signing in with @ncat.edu does not change the student’s email address.

Bluford Library Services and Online ResourcesClick to View
F.D. Bluford Library provides students with access to research databases, electronic journals, eBooks, streaming media, digital collections, research guides, and other academic resources.
Login requirements may differ depending on whether the student is accessing a resource while connected to the university network or from an off-campus location.
Accessing Library Resources While On Campus
When connected to the North Carolina A&T campus network or campus Wi-Fi, many licensed library resources may recognize the university network automatically.
- Begin from the Bluford Library website.
- Select the database, journal, eBook, or other resource.
- A separate login may not be required when the resource recognizes the campus network.
- If a login page appears, use the format requested by the library or resource provider.
Accessing Library Resources While Off Campus
Students accessing licensed library resources from home, a personal internet connection, or another off-campus location may be required to verify their university affiliation.
Username: OneID username before @
Example: jdoe123
Password: Current OneID password
For off-campus access:
- Begin from the Bluford Library website or a Bluford Library research guide.
- Select the database, article, journal, eBook, or other licensed resource.
- When prompted, enter your OneID username and current OneID password.
- Complete any additional university authentication steps.
- After authentication, you should be redirected to the selected resource.
Start From the Library Website
When accessing a subscription database or article from off campus, begin from the Bluford Library website. Going directly to a publisher or database website may not recognize your university access and may display a payment or subscription request.
Resource-Specific Accounts
Some library resources may ask users to create an additional personal account for features such as saved searches, bookmarks, folders, citations, or customized content. This additional account is separate from OneID authentication.
Do not pay for content before checking whether the resource is available through Bluford Library.
