Registering Smart Devices

Connecting to Aggie_Guest

Purpose: To enable internet connectivity for devices that cannot perform standard enterprise authentication (username/password login) by registering their hardware (MAC) address.

1. Prerequisites

  • A Primary Device: A laptop or mobile device already connected to the AggiePride Wi-Fi.
  • The Target Device MAC Address: The 12-character ID (e.g., AA:11:BB:22:CC:33) of the device you wish to register.
  • Note: Do not upload the serial number or model number.
  • Credentials: Your NCA&T OneID email and password.
    • Staff/Faculty: username@ncat.edu
    • Students: username@ncat.edu

2. The Registration Process

Step 1: Access the Portal
You must be on the campus network. Connect to AggiePride and navigate to:

Step 2: Authentication
Log in using your full university email and password.

Step 3: Manage Your Devices
You may register up to 10 smart devices. Navigate to the "Registered Device Administration" page.

To Add: Enter the Wi-Fi MAC Address + a name (e.g., "Living Room Roku") and click Submit.

To Remove: Select the device from your list and click Delete.

Step 4: Final Connection
Wait for the "Success" message. On your smart device, select the Aggie_Guest Wi-Fi. It will connect automatically.

3. Finding Your MAC Address

Most MAC addresses are found under Settings > About or Settings > Network.
