Unlocking Your OneID Using Self Service Portal

This article provides instructions for unlocking your OneID account using the Self-Service Portal. Users can follow the self-service process to verify their identity and unlock their account without contacting the ITS Service Desk.

Use this article if your OneID account is locked and you need to restore access to University systems and services.

This article will show how faculty, staff, and students can use the Self Service Portal to unlock their OneID account if it becomes locked.

Information: All users must be registered for at least two authentication methods to unlock their account using self-service to unlock their OneID.

1. Open forgotoneID.ncat.edu in a web browser.

2. Enter your OneID@ncat.edu and complete the CAPTCHA verification, then hit the Next button. Note: Both Students and Employees should enter their OneID@ncat.edu on this page. 

3. To unlock your account, select the second option on the screen below: I know my password, but still can't sign in and click Next. This will unlock your account without changing your OneID password. 

4. Follow the on screen prompts to use your Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) methods to verify your account. You will need to complete 2 verification steps to unlock your account.

Depending on your registered authentication methods, the options displayed may differ from the examples shown in this article.

5. Once you have completed the verification, your account will be unlocked.
